James White (02/06/2017) - Sola Ecclesia Preached by Robert Sungenis

Image
Here James White critiques the debate Robert Sungenis had with Dr. Tony Costa in 2017. I have to admit, I think James makes a great case for the Catholics having sola ecclesia as its answer to sola scriptura. I don't think it quite works because ultimately the Catholic Church does not define dogmas without using any Scriptural or Tradition to substantiate its position. So the Church is the authority above Scripture and Tradition, which are the two sources of Divine Revelation. I think that's fair to say. As I understand it, the Catholic apologetic is that Jesus never commanded for anything to be written, as recorded by Scripture. So, the Church may have just as well spread the Gospel through the centuries entirely by word of mouth, as it did for at least the first decade of Christianity. I think James White's critique here should be seriously studied by professional Roman Catholic apologists because he does raise some very good points.

James White (09/04/2007) - Matatics/Sungenis Debate

I stumbled upon this radio broadcast from Dr. James White. Apparently, there was supposed to be a debate between Robert Sungenis and Gerry Matatics on Chris Arnzen's Iron Sharpens Iron Radio Program back in September 2007. I wonder if this was the program that Gerry Matatics ended up being interviewed but only he was on the program. I'll have to look at the ISI archives. Or it may never have happened. James talks about his thoughts about both these Catholic apologists for the first ten minutes of this program. I couldn't stop cracking up at some points. Knowing Bob and Gerry, I think both might possibly agree with the points made. Enjoy.

Review of, I Survived "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" (Joshua Harris)

To be clear, I'm writing this primarily as a way of procrastination from putting together a presentation for a mental health panel tomorrow on "Lifespan perspectives on Anxiety and Self-Care". Don't worry, just like college, I always get it done, just in the nick of time. I've recently canceled 6 streaming platforms because all of these shows, movies, and documentaries are overwhelming me. There's so much to do in the world before you die and there's just way too many options to waste your life away. That said, this documentary popped up today as a recommendation on Prime. Waste away... I Survived "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" Turns out the subject was an international best selling author of the late '90s for his book "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" , Joshua Harris. Never heard of him, and apparently, the book helped just about as many people as it hurt. That was the thesis of the documentary. Well, it seems that the thought is th...
